EMANUEL SUTER ATTRIBUTED, ROCKINGHAM CO., SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA STONEWARE ARTICLES, LOT OF TWO, unglazed, comprising a nourisher/starter pot with punched drain hole to base and illegible pencil inscription and a cover having a "3" within dotted square frame mark and incised "4".

Condition: Undamaged. Manufacturing flaws including nourisher with firing separation to rim, as made.

Circa : 1870-1890.

Item Dimensions: Nourisher 2 3/8" H, 2 1/2" D rim.

Provenance : From the collection of Dr. Scott H. Suter, Bridgewater, VA.

Descended in the family of the potter, Emanuel Suter (1833-1902), to his daughter Susanna Virginia Suter Wenger (1859-1932), to her daughter Annie Suter Wenger Martin (1890-1980), to her daughter Mary Elizabeth Martin King (1922-2003), to her son.
