STAFFORDSHIRE AMERICAN HISTORICAL TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC PLATE, featuring the Arms of "RHODE ISLAND", depicting a shield with an anchor resting on a rock with crashing waves below, having "HOPE" printed above, and vine and flower border decoration. Marks to underside include impressed "T MAYER / STOKE", printed American eagle grasping ribbon with "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and old red hand-brushed museum accession number "89.00.159".
Condition : Having minor rim hairline and some usage wear including minor scattered scratches.
Circa : 1826-1838.
