WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA STENCILED / DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, brushed "2" gallon capacity designation, slightly ovoid form with flat-top rounded rim, beaded neck ring, medial double incised ring, and Albany-slip glazed interior. Stenciled cobalt "WAYNESBURG / POTTERY / J. BEUTER" to one side, reverse having brushed cobalt horizontal spitting tulip decoration, stripes above and below, and dashes flanking capacity mark.

Condition: Excellent undamaged condition. Manufacturing flaws including two glazed firing separations to base edge, as made.

Circa : Circa 1875.
