Catalogue Note: Major General William Heath was commander of the American troops guarding the Saratoga Convention British prisoners of war around Boston when this incident occurred. He had numerous correspondences with British commander Major General William Phillips concerning this shooting of Lt. Richard Brown of the British 21st Regiment. Heath sent a full report of the incident to General George Washington on June 22, 1778.
