Catalogue Note: The present jar is from a yet-to-be identified pottery located in northwestern Rockingham or southwestern Shenandoah Co. A large number of vessels featuring dark glazes, often with the branch-like pattern to the surface have been recovered in the area west of Timberville/New Market in Rockingham Co. northward to the area west of Mt. Jackson in Shenandoah Co.
