Troy Pittenger

Estate and Antiques Specialist (2023 to present)

Troy Pittenger

A Shenandoah Valley native, Troy was raised in Frederick County where his family has roots extending more than two hundred years. At the age of three, Troy started collecting vintage Santa Claus figures and Christmas decorations at yard sales with his mother and grandmother. By fourteen, having amassed a significant accumulation of various collectables, he and his mother started selling antiques in a local antique mall to thin things out a bit.

The two traveled the state for auctions almost every weekend for many years, and with every sale, their knowledge and interest in local antiques grew. Troy first visited Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates in about 2012 with his mother (they purchased a lot of antique German kugel ornaments) and has been bidding in almost every auction ever since. In 2017, Troy started an internship with A. Nicholas Powers, Curator of Collections at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, and his passion for the scholarship of Virginia material history flourished.

Shortly after joining the JSE&A team in late 2023 Troy and his partner, Mitch, purchased a circa 1800 Federal plantation house in Augusta County which they are lovingly restoring to its former glory. At the auction house, Troy works as a cataloguer specializing in Americana, early basketry, and (his life-long obsession) antique holiday decorations.
